From aerospace to the open road

Founded in 2012 by a team of aerospace engineers and motorsport enthusiasts, Velocity Forged set out to redefine what a wheel could be. Drawing on decades of experience in structural engineering and metallurgy, our founders applied aerospace-grade forging techniques to the world of automotive wheels.

What started in a modest 5,000 sq. ft. facility in Los Angeles has grown into a state-of-the-art manufacturing operation supplying wheels to customers across six continents. But our philosophy remains unchanged: every wheel that leaves our facility must be nothing short of perfect.

Today, Velocity Forged wheels are trusted by professional racing teams, luxury automotive dealerships, and passionate enthusiasts who refuse to compromise on quality, performance, or aesthetics.

The Art of the Forge

Our manufacturing process combines 21st-century technology with old-world craftsmanship.

01

Design & Engineering

Every wheel begins in our digital studio. Using advanced CAD software and Finite Element Analysis, we optimize every spoke, curve, and contour for maximum strength and minimum weight — all before a single piece of aluminum is touched.

02

Forging

A solid billet of 6061-T6 aircraft-grade aluminum is heated to 700°F and subjected to 10,000 tons of pressure. This immense force realigns the metal's grain structure, creating a wheel blank that is dramatically stronger and lighter than any cast equivalent.

03

CNC Machining

Our 5-axis CNC machines carve the forged blank into its final form with tolerances measured in microns. This process can take up to 8 hours per wheel, removing over 70% of the original material to reveal the final design.

04

Finishing & QC

Each wheel undergoes a meticulous multi-stage finishing process — from hand-sanding and surface preparation to custom painting, brushing, or polishing. A comprehensive 57-point quality inspection ensures perfection before it earns the Velocity Forged name.

Engineered Beyond Standards

We don't just meet industry standards — we exceed them by a wide margin.

Finite Element Analysis

Every design is digitally stress-tested across thousands of load scenarios before production. We identify and eliminate potential failure points that traditional methods miss completely.

Radial Fatigue Testing

Our wheels endure 1 million+ simulated rotation cycles under heavy load — 2× the JWL standard. We test until destruction, then engineer our way past the failure point.

Impact Resistance

Our 13° impact test simulates hitting a pothole at highway speeds. Velocity Forged wheels absorb and distribute impact energy in ways cast wheels simply cannot match.

Coordinate Measurement

Post-machining CMM verification with ±5-micron accuracy ensures every dimension matches the digital model exactly. No exceptions, no compromises.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Velocity Forged wheels.

What is the difference between forged and cast wheels?

Forged wheels are created from a solid block of aluminum compressed under immense pressure, realigning the metal's grain structure for superior strength and reduced weight. Cast wheels are made by pouring molten metal into a mold, resulting in a more porous, heavier, and weaker structure. Forged wheels are typically 25-40% lighter and 300% stronger than cast alternatives.

What does "6061-T6" mean?

6061 is a precipitation-hardened aluminum alloy containing magnesium and silicon as its major alloying elements. T6 refers to the heat treatment process — solution heat-treated and artificially aged — which gives the material its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio. This is the same alloy used in aircraft structures and high-performance automotive components.

How long does it take to produce a set of wheels?

A typical set of four custom wheels takes 4-6 weeks from order confirmation to shipment. This includes design finalization, forging, CNC machining, finishing, and quality control. Rush orders may be available for an additional fee — please contact our team for details.

Do you offer international shipping?

Yes. We ship to over 40 countries worldwide. International shipping costs vary based on destination and order size. All international shipments are fully insured and tracked. Contact our team for a shipping quote to your location.

What sizes and fitments are available?

We manufacture wheels in diameters from 18" to 24", with widths from 7" to 14". Every set is built to your specific vehicle's bolt pattern, offset, and center bore requirements. Fill out our contact form with your vehicle details for a precise fitment recommendation.

What warranty do you offer?

All Velocity Forged wheels come with a lifetime structural warranty and a 3-year finish warranty. This covers manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship. Our warranty does not cover damage from improper installation, accidents, or neglect. See our full warranty documentation for complete details.
