Some cars are delivered. Others are completed. Marcus Chen's 992 GT3 RS belonged to the latter category — and he knew exactly where to bring it.

European Delivery, California Finish

Marcus Chen, a Silicon Valley entrepreneur and lifelong Porsche enthusiast, took European delivery of his 992 GT3 RS at Porsche Leipzig in June 2026. After a week driving through the Black Forest and the Swiss Alps — on the factory wheels — he flew home with a clear plan.

"The GT3 RS is an almost perfect machine," Marcus explains. "But 'almost' is the operative word. The factory wheels are excellent, but they're designed for the average buyer. I wanted something that reflected my specific use case — mostly canyon roads and occasional track days — and my personal aesthetic."

Two days after landing back in California, Marcus drove the GT3 RS — still wearing its European delivery Swiss temporary plates — straight to Velocity Forged headquarters in Los Angeles. The car had 847 miles on the odometer.

The Selection Process

Marcus spent three hours in our showroom, working with our fitment specialists to find the perfect setup. He wanted a wheel that would complement the GT3 RS's aggressive aero package without overwhelming it — something motorsport-derived but not track-only in appearance.

After comparing physical samples of the VF-440, VF-620, and VF-640 in various finishes against the car's Arctic Grey paint, the choice became clear: VF-640 Motorsport Series in a custom Satin Bronze finish, with titanium hardware.

"The asymmetric spoke design of the VF-640 just looked right against the RS's sculpted bodywork," Marcus recalls. "And the Satin Bronze against Arctic Grey — it's a combination you don't see every day. Subtle enough to look OEM+, unique enough to stand out."

The Result

The final specification: 20×9.5 front (ET44, 20.3 lbs each) and 21×12.5 rear (ET48, 22.7 lbs each), saving a combined 18.4 lbs of unsprung rotating mass compared to the factory magnesium wheels. The custom Satin Bronze finish was color-matched to the bronze badging on Marcus's GT3 Touring — his other Porsche.

"The transformation exceeded my expectations," says Marcus. "The steering feels even more immediate, the ride quality actually improved slightly — those 18 pounds make a difference — and the visual presence is exactly what I was after. It's still a GT3 RS, but it's my GT3 RS now."

Marcus's GT3 RS on VF-640s has since been featured at Luftgekühlt 2026 and on the cover of Excellence Magazine's September issue. Not bad for a car with fewer than 2,000 miles on it.
