McLaren 720S
The Story
David's 720S was already a head-turner in McLaren's signature Papaya Spark — the exact shade made famous by the brand's Formula 1 cars. But for Monterey Car Week, David wanted to make a statement that went beyond factory specifications.
The VF-301 in Polished Clear was a bold choice — the mirror-like finish reflecting the world around it in a way that makes the wheels appear almost liquid. "At The Quail," David recalls, "people kept asking if the wheels were chrome. When I explained it was a 14-step hand-polished finish on forged aluminum, they couldn't believe it."
These photos were taken on the lawn at The Quail during Monterey Car Week 2026, with the morning light diffused through the coastal fog. The polished VF-301s reflect the green grass and blue sky in equal measure — a chameleon effect that no painted finish can achieve.
